2 Weeks

I know this is a few days late, but we had some pictures taken of Reese last Sat and I have been waiting to get them back. We also went to the Dr today for her 2 week checkup. She is 19 inches long and weighs 5lbs 6 ozs. He said everything looks good and she is perfect! Which I happen to agree with!

Cody had a girl from work take her pictures. She did a great job! Reese only cried half the time, but she was freezing!! The girls house was not very warm for my tiny baby! But I love the crying ones the very most!!

She is starting to smile a little and raises her head A LOT! It is getting hard to burp her because she moves so much! She is only two weeks old and already changing so much! As much as I love her being tiny I am very excited for when she sits by herself and laughs and actually fits in her cloths everyone bought her! And maybe one day she can even wear her tiny headbands!

Family Pictures

On Sunday we went up Provo canyon and took some pictures of Cody's sister and her husband. We decided that we also needed some family photos. I wish we would have decided that before we left the house for I was not so ready to take pictures!

Carving Pumpkins

Last night we had dinner at Cody's parents house and carved pumpkins. I haven't carved a pumpkin in years! And to be honest Cody did ours, so I still haven't carved a pumpkin in years!

Cody carved Sponge Bob for me (his idea!!).
Stefanie and Justin carved a ghost. It had to be lit by a flashlight so you can't see it so well in the group picture.
My niece Keana carved the Alien.
Trisha and her friend Craig did Joseph Smith.
And Jamie just carved a regular Jack-o-Lantern.

Uncle PJ

Uncle PJ finally came to visit last week! He works in Arizona and only comes home for about ten days at a time. He left the morning she was born, so he wasn't able to come see her at the hospital. I am also supposed to point out that he is the only one with a picture holding Reese on my blog. "HA HA everyone else!" Love PJ

Fablehaven

I just finished reading this series. It is not finished yet. I know of a fourth book coming out, soon I hope!! And I hope there is more after that. I thought they were so fantastic! They are books written for ages 7-12. But I still loved them. NO Harry Potter, even though they are compared quite a bit, but I would definitely recommend them to anyone! They are about two kids who have to stay with their grandparents, who secretly live on a magical creature preserve. I finished the first book in a day, the second book took a couple days, and the third was in the middle of having a baby. So that one took me longer!! Really easy reads (notice the ages again). But still so fantastic!! I am glad I took a chance and read them!

1 Week Old

My little tiny was one week old yesterday! She hasn't changed too much, no more jaundice, and her cheeks look a little chubbier. But mostly the same. When we went to the Drs she weighed 5lbs 1 oz. Just tiny. To me she seems kind of big, but I am sure if I held a regular sized newborn she wouldn't seem so big! She sleeps pretty good and I have only cried once, out of pure exhaustion! We are working on a schedule, but she isn't too keen on doing what she told! I do wish she would start doing things. I know that all that comes soon enough, but it would be fun to play and watch cartoons together! I love cuddling with her in the mornings! It is the only time she allowed to sleep in our bed. And I love putting her tiny cloths on her! I am limited because she only fits in preemie cloths, but it is still fun! I don't know what we would do without her! Other than sleep of course!!
It kind of looks like she is smiling in this picture, but in all reality she is starting to cry!

We gave her, her first bath yesterday. She did not like it!
I love it when she cries! She has this little whiny squeak before she really gets going and it just makes me giggle! It makes her even madder, but I love it! She also has a little bit of jaundice. She didn't get it until we got home, but we have to keep this light blanket on her until it gets better. I have friends that have had to put their babies in little suitcases of light, so a blanket really isn't that bad!
Cody calls her his little Iron Man, I think she looks like a tiny Glow Worm!

Technical Difficulties

Sorry our video has some technical difficulties! It works on my computer, but the way the videos uploaded made them freakishly small! Sorry the pictures should work, but the video parts kind of have problems. If it still does not work let me know and and I will fire the webmaster!

5lbs 8oz 18"

Our little baby decided to finally join us early Sunday morning! Our little one weighed in a hefty 5lbs 8oz, 18 " long. Pretty much the tiniest baby I have ever seen in real life! Everything went very well! I kind of feel like a brat. I always hear all these stories about labor and pregnancy, how hard they are, the pain, how uncomfortable it is! I really got off easy! I was sick at first but not bad. I didn't get very big. Most people were surprised to hear how far along I was when I was just a few days off! I was going to try to get a belly picture at the hospital, but my contractions were so close together I had three from the parking lot to check in! I was going to be brave and try it natural. Not because I am some She-Ra wonder women, I just figured that millions have done it, so could I. Well I couldn't. My main goal was to at least get to the point of no return. Where they say take it now or never. I had been having contractions for two days. They weren't bad and really too far apart to get to got to the hospital. I was strong and still felt I could handle the no drugs. Well Saturday night about 11, I started contracting a lot. They say don't come in unless they 5 min apart for at least an hour. So I waited. I took a warm bath, tried to sleep, tried to read a book. Cody was sleeping so I sat in the living room for a while trying to decide of I should go in and lie saying it has been two hours or just call and see what they tell me. Finally at 12:15 I decided that I would go to the hospital and if they tried to send me home I would threaten to blow the place up! When we got there, they checked me in hooked me up to all the machines and said they would come check on me in 30 min. Telling me in her nicest way possible not to get my hopes up, they would probably send me home since I was only dilated to a 3. I already decided that drugs were awesome and the more they gave me the happier I would be. When she said that it would be 30 min I thought I would die! Poor Cody wasn't sure what to do! Every min I would have a contraction that seemed to last forever and he just stood there holding my hand trying to sooth me. I did feel bad that he felt so helpless, but I was busy doing other things! When she FINALLY came back to check on me (ONE HOUR LATER) she gave me her nice little smile and checked me, getting ready to say get dressed and go home. Quit wasting my time. When to her amazement I had dilated to over a 7! I had the Strep B bacteria so they were supposed to put me on an antibiotic while I was in labor, 2 doses in my IV, 4 hours apart. Well since I was already a 7 they had to hurry. I asked her when the man with the drugs was coming and she said he won't come until my IV is in and the girl to that is on her way. I then asked her to call him so he would be there waiting when she was done. And she said that he was just asleep across the hall and it would be fine. I think they all felt a little bad because they didn't really believe me that my baby was coming and that she ignored me for an hour! The Epidural man came, and quickly hooked me up. I didn't feel what he was doing because he stuck it in when I was contracting. Cody told me later that the needle wasn't THAT big. I instantly felt better. And I know Cody was happy because I was more relaxed and that made him relax. She said it was good that I got the epidural because it is supposed to slow your labor down and I still needed my second dose of antibiotics. When she came back to check on me 30 min later, I was dilated to a 10 and my water bag was ready to explode! She was again shocked and left to call the dr. I go to Provo OBGYN and there are about 5 drs there, of course the one that delivered me was the only one I had never seen! But I really didn't care, as long as someone was there to catch! While I was waiting for the dr to come in I was watching the monitors. Watching her heart rate and the rise and fall of my contractions, I was extremely thankful I decided to get an epidural. My contractions were not lasting a min anymore. There were a few that that didn't stop for the whole screen! I would not have survived that! All of a sudden we heard screaming! Cody and I looked at each other and I thought to myself idiot lady that passed on the goods! Well an hour later when the dr finally walked in, we found out that some lady came in thinking she was starting labor, and when they checked her, her baby's head was crowning! That was the screaming! She didn't even get a chance for the goods! Well the dr broke my water, and said how surprised he was that I went so fast and still seemed to think I would push for a hundred hours! He was making small talk and being so nice. I was really comfortable and actually almost enjoying myself. They told me to push and I honestly could not feel anything, so I was not sure what to do. But I just remembered seeing labors on TV and made the pushing face and they then told me I was an excellent pusher! I believed them because I am pretty good at about everything I do! I only had to push for like 20 min and then the tiniest little baby came out! I knew she would be small but I was not expecting 5lbs 8oz! Especially since she was two days late! They took her to get cleaned up she had a little trouble with her breathing, so they called a respiratory therapist in. By the time she came her breathing was normal. Everything was good! I got to hold her for a little bit, then they took her to get cleaned up. Over all it was not bad! My recovery has been awesome, she doesn't like the feeding part of things so I have been pumping but everything is going really well. She sleeps really good, probably too good. But I don't want to complain. Cody has been so awesome! He loves being a dad and she loves him. She cries when I have her, but the second Cody takes her she settles right down! He has helped so much and woke up with her the most our first night. I love my tiny little baby! I really don't know what we would do without her! It is still surreal to think that we have a little baby, but I wouldn't change it for the world! The dogs of course LOVE her! They have this sweet maternal instinct to help her when she cries!

Baby

Yes today is my due date. The baby count down clock says 0 and there is NO BABY! I know that 99% of the time first babies are late, and I know that it is completely normal. But I still just need to whine about it for a while. Contractions suck! Ya they hurt, I knew they would. They just aren't consistent. You have to wait til they are 5 min apart before it means anything and I have had them for two day ranging from 10 min to 2 or 3 hours! Just when you think you are on a roll and things are gonna get going, THEY STOP!! NOT AWESOME!! My errands have been run, my house is clean and I don't want to wait around for it to get messy again! AHHHH
The only thing that brings happiness to my life right now is my wonderful husband who puts up with my crankiness, the fact that I don't have to work for at least three months, and The Soup. I love Joel McHale. He makes me laugh, and he reminds me of my friend Erin. They make the same faces and have the same sense of humor. I also have gotten to watch Pride and Prejudice, Funny Girl, and Little Mermaid. Cody is home this weekend so I have to take a little hiatus until Mon. But I think it will be Cinderella and Pocahontas day if anyone is interested! Hopefully Cody will be home because someone decided to grace us with her presence, and movie day will be canceled. But I am losing hope. And I am tired and cranky. Dr Pepper just isn't cutting it anymore.

Books

My friend Sarah did this on her blog. It looked like fun and I was curious to see how many I have actually read! Most of them are ones I intend on reading. As you can see I am going to be busy for a while!! I have only read 14, and have about 38 I want too. Some I have never heard of so I will be looking into them. I love to read and this is the perfect reading list to refer too! Thanks Sarah!!

The Big Read reckons that the average adult has only read 6 of the top 100 books they’ve printed.
1) Look at the list and bold those you have read.
2) Italicize those you intend to read.
3) Underline the books you love.
4) Strike out the books you have no intention of ever reading, or were forced to read at school and hated.

Diaper Pizza

So my little sister was a little upset when Cody's sisters made me a diaper cake for one of my showers. She was going to make one and surprise me, because I always wanted one. So instead she made me a Diaper Pizza. Don't be fooled by the illusion that it may look like a diaper cake, for it is in fact a Diaper Pizza!Funnier yet. When my mom and sister would talk about making me a diaper cake, my little brother would get so excited! He thought that they were actually making a cake that looked like a diaper! When he realized it was actual diapers not tasty cake and icing, he got a little mad! Laura you need to make Cody a cake!

Shes....

NOT HERE YET!!! I am not late so I really can't complain, but I am done. I am pretty much a brat. I feel so awesome. I am not uncomfortable and I haven't gotten very big. I have about one week left and my wedding ring still fits! I haven't gotten too swollen and I only waddle sometimes.
The only complaints I do have is I think I am getting heart burn. Not really sure cause I don't know what it is. And I can't sleep. She doesn't wake me up, I am just getting my mom vibe and have turned into a light sleeper. Last night I woke up to my dog getting a drink of water. She sleeps outside! I woke up 30 min later to my neighbors sprinklers turning on! I didn't even know they had a sprinkler system! I then woke up cause I got really hot and then an hour later I got cold so I woke up again! NOT AWESOME!
It was our five year anniversary on Sat. It was great, we went to a nice dinner out at Thanksgiving Point and then came home and watched some movies. I would like to be posting a picture of my new giant diamond ring Cody said I could have on our fifth, but I now have to pay for college. He said maybe next year. But I told him I could wait til our tenth, cause then he would have more time to save for an even bigger one!! He did get a necklace from Tiffany's I have been wanting for a while. I bought him a super sweet watch. I was secretly hoping that he wouldn't like it so I could have it and just buy him another, but he loved it and shows it to EVERYONE!!! Which is ok I am glad he likes it!
I would like to say Congrats to my big Sister!! She got to have her baby on Sunday the 28. I am only a little bitter because I was due first, but I am over it cause he was gigantor and two more weeks would have broke the oven!! Her blog link is on my list under April. I will say he is freaking cute and everyone should check him out! I can't wait til I get to pinch his big fatty cheeks! I love you tiny Harry and can't wait to meet you!!
